0900-1030 How to generate RF/MW Signals with the right modulation

To prepare you for the challenges of today's test signal generation and signal simulation, this presentation will review the basic characteristics of signals required to test a variety of products, from amplifiers to digital communication systems and advanced radar systems. These signals may vary from simple single frequency sinusoids, to analog and digitally modulated carriers, to modulated carriers that simulate interference or impairments. This presentation addresses the basics of signal generation, key signal specifications, and applications of test signals. It also shows how signal generators are taken beyond general purpose applications to simulating advanced signals with impairments, interference, signal capture, and waveform correction.

1045-1215 Why Spectrum Analysis is Important?

Find out why spectrum analysis is important for a variety of applications and how to measure system and device performance using a spectrum analyser. As an introduction to spectrum analysers, the theory of operation will be discussed. In addition we will examine the major component inside the analyser and find out why they are important. You will then get to know the specifications that are important for your application. Finally, the specific features of a spectrum analyser that make it more effective in making measurements will be introduced.

1330-1500 Measuring High-Frequency Electrical Networks using a Network Analyser

You will learn what kinds of measurements are made with a network analyser, and how they allow you to characterise both linear and non-linear behaviour of your devices. The session starts with RF fundamentals such as transmission lines and the
Smith chart, leading to the concepts of reflection, transmission and S-parameters. The next section covers the major components in a network analyser, including the advantages and limitations of different hardware approaches. Error modelling, some typical swept-frequency and swept-power measurements commonly performed on filters and amplifiers will also be covered.some practical jitter measurements.

The output power level of a system or component is frequently the critical factor in the design, and ultimately the purchase and performance of almost all radio frequency and microwave equipments. Hence, accurate power measurement is required. This training covers the ranges of power equipments from Agilent and their special features. The presentation will give the audience an overview of respective product application and also the targeted markets and customers. In order to keep up as market leader in power measurement, we will provide some competitive analysis to make sure the audience aware of our strength and weaknesses and compete with the competitors in the field.
